Dean Smith told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports (30/11/20 at 10:25 am) that a member of West Ham’s bench was calling Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish a ‘diver’ and ‘cheat’ last night.

It was a controversial game at the London Stadium, with the home side securing all three points after Ollie Watkins missed a penalty and his stoppage-time equaliser was judged to be offside by VAR.

Grealish did find the back of the net during the game when his deflected effort from outside of the box levelled the scores in the first half.

But, during the match, there was clearly some arguments erupting between both benches, as Smith shared what exactly happened.

“One of their members of staff was calling Jack a ‘diver’ and a ‘cheat’,” said Smith. “I wouldn’t say anything about opposition players and I wouldn’t expect any of my staff members to say it either.

“So, I spoke to David and he said he will deal with it.”

West Ham would have made their short trip home feeling pretty lucky at the outcome of Monday night’s game because they were the second-best team for most parts.

But the positive David Moyes will take from it is that his team secured all three points despite being slow to the ball and passive in their play.

As for Villa, they will join a line of clubs who have ‘x’ amount of problems with how the rules currently in place, and VAR in itself, is taking the enjoyment out of the game.
