Could Tottenham take a gamble on Derby County’s Tom Ince?

Tottenham Hotspur have brought back Steve Hitchen to the club as chief scout, with the Premier League side making changes due to Paul Mitchell’s departure, The Sun report.

Hitchin worked at the club before and identified Luka Modric as a top talent, but his most recent role came at Derby County.

There is one player at the Rams who could provide enough intrigue for Hitchen to take a second look at with regards to signing him for Tottenham, in form winger Tom Ince.

Ince is a player who has had a big reputation since beating Wilfried Zaha to the Championship Player of the Year in 2013 after a prolific spell with Blackpool.

A disappointing spell at Hull followed, but he is back on track after joining Derby County in 2015.

Ince has scored 10 goals and provided four assists this season for the Rams, making it 33 goals across the past three seasons for the club.

There is a question mark over whether Ince can reproduce that form at Premier League level, but in recent seasons Tottenham have gambled on signing wingers from Ligue 1.

Neither Kevin-Georges N’Koudou nor Clinton N’Jie have scored a single goal for Spurs in two cumulative seasons at the club, and Ince could be a worthwhile gamble, having only just turned 25.

Tottenham have been linked with signing Wilfried Zaha in the summer who has been touted at £25 million plus, The Sun report – Ince could cost less than half that.
