Celtic have been linked with a move for Che Adams.
Birmingham City forward Che Adams has been in stunning form of late – and Celtic appear to have joined the battle for his signature.
Adams has hit eight goals in his last eight games, taking his tally for the season to 19 goals in 32 Championship games, whilst also picking up three assists.
The 22-year-old was a wanted man in January, and The Mirror now report that a host of clubs have joined the race by watching him in action – and one of them is Celtic.
The Bhoys allegedly scouted Adams against Bolton last week, but in truth, Celtic surely face an uphill task even getting close to signing Adams at the end of the season.
The Times report that Birmingham want £22million for Adams, even with their well-documented financial issues, and Celtic are unlikely to get near to that kind of price.
Celtic’s record transfer fee is around £8million for Odsonne Edouard (BBC), so going to more than double that for Adams seems hugely unlikely.
Celtic may have cash reserves, but it doesn’t exactly fit into the Celtic model to go and splash it all on one player, even if he is hugely talented and would fit in well under Brendan Rodgers.
The Bhoys may be better off putting their money into trying to sign loanees Jeremy Toljan and Oliver Burke permanently anyway, so if Birmingham stick to their huge asking price for Adams, Celtic fans shouldn’t expect to see him in the green and white hoops any time soon.
