Birmingham City’s Che Adams was reportedly attracting interest from a number of clubs in January, including Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley & Southampton.
Birmingham City striker Che Adams has stated that he has ‘just carried on performing’ following reported interest in his services from Premier League clubs in January.
The Mirror claimed last month that Wolves were one of 12 top-tier sides scouting the Championship ace during the recently concluded winter transfer window.
Added with that, Sky Sports reported on deadline day that Burnley had a bid in excess of £12 million rejected by the Blues for Adams, with Southampton another interested party.
The 22-year-old, who stayed at St Andrew’s, commented on the speculation and the transfer fees that were being banded about for him.
“I have just carried on performing,” Adams told BBC Radio WM Sport. “I’m playing football, that’s what I am doing and I am happy at Birmingham.
It was then put to Adams that the £10-12m fee reported for him during January, shows how far he has come in these last six months, he issued this response: “Yes, definitely. It’s nice to get that recognition. My football is here with Birmingham and it won’t affect me.”
Over the course of the season, the powerful forward has been in sparkling form for Garry Monk’s side, who currently occupy a top 10 spot in the Championship.
The former Sheffield United man has played 30 league games during this campaign, scoring 16 goals for the Blues, according to transfermarkt.
It has been a massive change in Adams form in front of goal compared to previous seasons because he had only scored 13 league goals during the previous two campaigns for Birmingham.
