Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic reportedly wanted to sign Charly Musonda from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

It was reported that Brendan Rodgers’s side were lining up a £5 million bid for the 20-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger.
The Belgium Under-21 international is highly rated and has a lot of potential, but Celtic should not make a move for him in the January transfer window.
As good as Musonda is, his apparent public airing of his frustration at lack of chances at Chelsea is something that should put off the Bhoys from making a move for him.

In a recent post on Instagram (which has since been deleted, but you can still read it here and here), Musonda wrote: “You sacrifice, you work hard, harder, you give more than what’s expected, and often more than you can, because you love what you do and clearly more than you should. And what do you get back? Literally nothing,… done. However, with this being said I will continue with same dedication and commitment to this great game.”
According to Press Association, Musonda has denied that his post on Instagram was meant to be a criticism of Chelsea and manager Antonio Conte, but it is clear that he is frustrated at not getting chances.
One can understand Musonda’s apparent frustration at lack of chances for the Chelsea first team, but the youngster should have been more mature and should not have gone on a public rant.
Celtic may not be at Chelsea’s level, but Rodgers still has a competitive squad and has some brilliant players.

The Hoops also have a very harmonious dressing room, and the players get on well with each other.
Musonda would struggle to break into the Hoops’ starting lineup. What if he publicly airs his frustration then?
There has been a lot of positivity around Celtic since Rodgers became the manager in the summer of 2016, and the former Liverpool and Swansea City boss should not sign a player who could bring a certain degree of negativity.
