The Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, is reportedly monitoring the defender ahead of a possible move to Ibrox.

Some Charlton Athletic supporters are mocking Rangers after Steven Gerrard’s side were listed among the clubs interested in signing Patrick Bauer.

According to The Daily Mail, Rangers are monitoring Bauer’s situation as the centre-back nears to end of his contract in south-east London.

Rangers can offer Bauer Europa League football next season, assuming the Gers progress through this year’s qualification rounds.

But that particular suggestion appears to have tickled a few (albeit not all) of the Addicks faithful…

All joking aside, you will struggle to find many Charlton fans who don’t want Bauer to renew his deal.

It was, of course, the 26-year-old who scored the winner as the Addicks beat Sunderland in last month’s League One play-off final at Wembley.

Despite suffering defeat in the Europa League’s first qualifying round the season before last, Rangers fell just short of progressing to the knock-out stages in 2018/19.

Gerrard’s side will begin their campaign a round later than they have done in recent years.

Will Bauer snub the likes of Rangers to remain at Charlton this summer?
