Rangers are reportedly keen to bring Karlan Grant to Ibrox.

Karlan Ahearne-Grant of Charlton looks on during the Checkatrade Trophy match between Charlton and Fulham at The Valley on November 1, 2017 in London, England.

Rangers have already struck four deals this month, but there could be more to come from Steven Gerrard’s side before the end of January.

The Gers have brought in Steven Davis and Jermain Defoe on loan to boost their Premier League title pursuit this season, as well as landing Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara on pre-contract agreements.

Rangers are not only strengthening for now but also for the future, and another pre-contract deal could be in the works for next season.

The Scottish Sun report that Rangers want to sign Charlton striker Karlan Grant, and are preparing a pre-contract offer to the forward in the coming weeks.

Grant, 21, has come up through the Charlton ranks, and is now a first-team star under Lee Bowyer having hit 13 goals in 27 games this season.

Grant is in red-hot form this season, but his contract expires this summer, and Charlton now stand to lose their promising young striker to another club.

Given cross-border contract rules, Rangers can sign Grant for a small compensation fee, meaning the Addicks will be praying that Grant ends up signing for an English club instead.

Charlton fans have been taking to Twitter to react, suggesting that Grant is a ‘poor lad’ if he ends up signing for Rangers, believing Scottish football is a step down.

Some are begging Grant to stay, and whilst many praised his ability – especially his ‘electric’ pace – one fan believes that it would be a major risk to trade in regular first-team football at The Valley for a move to Ibrox.
