Charlie Taylor insists truth has not been told over his exit from Leeds United

Leeds United lost Charlie Taylor to Burnley in the summer.

Charlie Taylor has told Burnley’s match day programme that the story behind his Leeds United exit which was presented in the media was not a truthful one.

Taylor departed Leeds in the summer in controversial circumstances, after refusing to play for the Whites on the final day of last season.

The left-back has come in for fierce criticism from the Elland Road crowd for the way he left Leeds.

But Taylor has defended himself for the way he left the Yorkshire club. He said: “There are two sides to every story and the one that was out in the media wasn’t the truth.

“I will go into more detail one day about that.

“I couldn’t really get my point across and it didn’t really end on great terms or how I wanted it to end.

“Hopefully I can clear that up one day.”

Taylor left Leeds for Burnley for a fee of £5 million, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Taylor’s exit from Leeds hurt supporters so much, as he had come through their youth academy before becoming a first-team star.

Leeds may feel that they have had the last laugh over Taylor, following last night’s victory in the Carabao Cup though.

Leeds beat Burnley on penalties, after a pulsating 2-2 draw in normal time.

The Whites have now progressed to the fourth round of the cup competition, and extended their impressive start to the new campaign.
