Liverpool host Manchester United at Anfield on Monday

Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports that Monday night’s clash between Liverpool and Manchester United is already the game of the season.
Liverpool host their fierce rivals at Anfield on Monday is arguably the most eagerly-anticipated meeting between the two sides for a number of years.
The Reds have started the season on fire and currently sit fourth in the Premier League table.

In contrast, United find themselves down in seventh having enjoyed a less impressive start than Jurgen Klopp’s team.
The game will be a huge indication not only of both teams’ top-four credentials but also their title credentials, and Nicholas says it is already the biggest game of the season as a result.
“It’s not one of the games of the season, it is the game of the season,” he told Sky Sports.
“I’ve always been enthralled by this game, especially at Anfield. Liverpool are the best team at the moment but Mourinho will have a trick or two.”

In truth, the game is possibly more important to Liverpool than to Manchester United at this stage of the season.
They have not beaten United in their last four league encounters, with the last win coming in a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford in 2014.
Aside from wanting to end that run, a win here would also be a further indication that they are genuine title contenders this year after already beating Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester City.
