The midfielder has been suspended for three weeks by Mark Warburton.
Joey Barton applauds fans as he is substituted
Sky Sports Soccer Saturday pundit Charlie Nicholas says he believes Joey Barton’s time at Rangers is over.
The midfielder joined the club in the summer transfer window after he elected to leave promoted Burnley.
His capture was considered something of a coup for the Gers after Barton had been named as Championship player of the Year in the Clarets’ promotion winning campaign.
His move has turned into something of a disaster, though, with this week seeing him suspended for three weeks following an incident in training.

It has left his future at the club firmly in doubt but Nicholas says he cannot see any future for him at Ibrox.
“I don’t see any future for him at Rangers,” he told Sky Sports Soccer Saturday.
“I think Rangers just have to make a financial agreement and move him on. I think there’s a realistic view at 34 years old where you can say ‘it’s not working for me and it’s not working for you.”
Rangers’ Joey Barton looks dejected
It remains to be seen whether Barton does have a future at Rangers or if both parties decide to part ways.
At this moment in time, he looks extremely likely to leave with his outspoken nature clearly having not gone down well with manager Mark Warburton.
There is no denying his ability on his day as he showed last season and it will be interesting to see if the Rangers boss decides if it is worth the risk of keeping him around.
