Aston Villa lost to West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.
The former Arsenal and Chelsea forward, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, made the comments following Villa’s 2-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at Villa Park in the Championship this past Saturday afternoon.
Nicholas said on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News this past Saturday (5:21pm, February 16, 2019): “Villa are average. I know Abraham is everything for the goals, but they have got to change it because they are an average-looking side.”
Damning verdict
Villa do have some very good players, but their recent performances and results have been disappointing.
Against West Brom this past Saturday afternoon, Dean Smith’s side struggled and deservedly lost the match.
Villa are 10th in the Championship table at the moment with 44 points from 33 matches, nine points behind sixth-placed Bristol City.
There is still a small change of the Villans sneaking into the playoffs, but for that to happen, they need to put together a run of positive results.
With matches against Stoke City, Derby County, Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest coming matches, Villa will have to be on top of their game in order to get positive results.
