Everton endured a frustrating Saturday afternoon at Crystal Palace.

Charlie Nicholas has accused Everton star Richarlison of diving during Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace.

Fresh from a morale-boosting 4-0 demolition of Manchester United, Everton couldn’t break down Roy Hodgson’s side at Selhurst Park.

The Toffees had the better chances, most of which fell to Dominic Calvert-Lewin but the young striker failed to convert.

Richarlison had penalty appeals waived away following a challenge by Patrick van Aanholt, but Nicholas told Sky Sports straight afterwards that the big-money Brazilian signing, who joined for £50 million, should have been booked for diving.

He told Sky Sports News: “There was a Richarlison run. He got into the box and Van Aanholt was sliding in, taking a bit of a risk, but he actually doesn’t touch the Everton striker and he went down very, very softly.

“The referee Lee Mason made the right decision in that it was no penalty, but he should’ve booked Richarlison.”

Potential theatrics aside, Everton should be winning games like this. If Marco Silva’s side can win 4-0 against Man United, they can beat the Eagles surely.

It sums up the Goodison Park club’s inconsistency and that’s certainly something to address next season.
