Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly still interested in signing Wilfried Zaha this summer.
Charlie Nicholas has told Soccer Saturday (broadcast on Sky Sports; 6/4; 17:40) that he is not convinced that Wilfried Zaha would be that keen to leave Crystal Palace for Tottenham this summer if Mauricio Pochettino attempts to sign him.
Bleacher Report has suggested that Spurs are considering a move for the forward at the end of the season having been linked with the Ivory Coast international regularly over the past 18 months.
The 26-year-old has enjoyed another excellent campaign with the Eagles, scoring eight goals in the Premier League and contributing three assists for Roy Hodgson’s men. He also played a key role in their 1-0 win against Newcastle at the weekend, winning the penalty that allowed Luka Milivojevic to score the decisive goal.
But when asked about Spurs potentially pursuing a move for Zaha, Nicholas suggested that he would not be surprised to see the former Manchester United man to opt to stay put.
“Zaha, I’m not so sure about. He fits into the Spurs way,” he told Sky Sports, when asked about the Tottenham links.
“I don’t think he does [want to go]. I think he enjoys being where he is now. It depends how ambitious the owners of Crystal Palace want to be.”
It is a fantastic time to join Tottenham following their move into their new stadium. The arena appears to have the potential to be the launchpad that allows them to make giant strides of progress in the future.
And with Zaha now into what should be the peak years of his career, there may not be too many more opportunities for him to join a team regularly looking to challenge for trophies if he decides that he is not leaving Selhurst Park this summer.
