The Sky Sports pundit says he’d change a couple of things if he were the Reds boss as Jurgen Klopp seeks to get back on track in the Champions League.

Charlie Nicholas answers questions during the Gillette Soccer Saturday Live with Jeff Stelling on March 19, 2012 at the Bournemouth International Centre in Bournemouth, England.

Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has offered some advice to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in terms of player selection for tonight’s Champions League encounter with Red Bull Salzburg at Anfield (Sky Sports News).

The Reds may be flying high in the Premier League with a 100 percent record of seven wins from seven but in Europe they are already somewhat on the back foot after losing 2-0 in their opening group game away at Napoli last month.

Nicholas believes that it will be a “comfortable night” for Liverpool and suggested that Klopp give Joe Gomez and James Milner starts against the Austrians, while also giving Adam Lallana an opportunity.

“I remember Red Bull Salzburg from them playing Celtic a few years back,” Nicholas wrote on Sky Sports News. “There was a lot going on with the brand and funding – they had to be building for a few years. They are going to one of the grounds with the best atmosphere in Europe on Champions League nights.

Jurgen Klopp manager

“Liverpool are getting the job done at the moment. If I were Jurgen Klopp I would change a couple of things. Joe Gomez could come in and James Milner may get a start. Adam Lallana could get an opportunity, too. It will be a very comfortable night, regardless.”

The Reds will be facing Salzburg for the first time in their history, with their six previous matches against Austrian sides in Europe yielding four victories and, even though they lost their most recent match to Grazer AK in a Champions League qualifier in August 2004, Liverpool would end up winning the competition that season (Sky Sports).
