Charlie Nicholas fancies West Ham United to beat Watford.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic

Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports that he expects West Ham United to have too much for Watford in Saturday’s London derby at the Olympic Stadium.

West Ham host the Hornets this weekend as Slaven Bilic’s side go in search of their second Premier League victory of the season, having lost twice already, but their 1-0 win over Bournemouth will have calmed the nerves ahead of their second visit to their new home.

That being said, both defeats came away at Chelsea and Manchester City and the Irons should, in theory, bounce back from both setbacks, with star player Dimitri Payet due back for the Hammers.

Watford, meanwhile, have picked up just one point from a possible nine, with last season’s star striker Odion Ighalo so far struggling to scale the heights of last term.

And Nicholas is not convinced that Walter Mazzarri’s side will have enough for West Ham on Saturday.

He told Sky Sports: “I like the look of Watford in the opening weekends under Walter Mazzarri, who likes to chop and change, but they’re still waiting for Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney to get going.

“West Ham have got over the pressure of recording a first win in the new stadium, and I’d expect them to get the victory again with Dimitri Payet back, although it might take a late winner.”
