Charlie Nicholas fancies Tottenham Hotspur to draw at Stoke City
Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports that he believes Stoke City will hold Tottenham Hotspur to a 1-1 draw in Saturday’s trip to the Britannia Stadium.
Spurs travel to Stoke hoping to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League season, after winning one and drawing two of their first three games.
Both stalemates were 1-1 draws at Everton and home to Liverpool, either side of a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane.
Both sides will hope to show off their deadline-day signings, with Stoke – who have won one point from a possible nine thus far – bringing in Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony on a season-long loan, while Tottenham spent £30 million on Moussa Sissoko.
After drawing a blank in England’s 1-0 win over Slovakia at the weekend, Harry Kane has now gone 11 games without a goal for club and country, across friendly and competitive games – another subplot in an interesting encounter this weekend.
“Spurs have got to come out of the blocks and take advantage of this Stoke team starting slowly,” he told Sky Sports.
“I thought the best piece of business on deadline day was Stoke getting Wilfried Bony because they’ve got all the ingredients to support him.
“As for Spurs, the media, if not the fans, are starting to panic about Harry Kane. It’s also a bit of a mystery in central midfield. Where is Moussa Sissoko going to fit into this team, especially when Mousa Dembele is back?I think it’s a bit confused at the moment.”
