Former Celtic and Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas predicted on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports Football on Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, August 26, 2017) that former Leeds United striker Chris Wood will score 12 goals in the Premier League for Burnley this season.

Wood has joined Premier League club Burnley from Championship side Leeds in the summer transfer window.

The New Zealand international striker scored as many as 27 goals in the Championship for the Whites last season.

The 25-year-old enjoyed arguably his best career in 2016-17, and one would say that he deserved the move to Burnley in the Premier League.

Chris Wood of Leeds United scores the first goal during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road on February 25, 2017 in Leeds, England.

According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, the Clarets had to pay Leeds a transfer fee of £15 million in order to secure the services of the former Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion striker.

Former Celtic and Arsenal forward Nicholas has backed Wood to score half a dozen goals in the Premier League for Burnley this season.

Nicholas said on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports Football on Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, August 26, 2017) when asked if Wood will score goals at the top level: “I do, yes. I think he will score goals the way they play. I really do. You are talking league goals, I think he could get a dozen. I think that would be a very, very good return.”
