Leeds host the Championship high-flyers in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

Charlie Nicholas has predicted that Leeds United will book their place in the last eight of the EFL Cup at the expense of Norwich City on Tuesday night, Sky Sports reports.

The two meet in one of just two all-Championship ties. And while the Canaries are currently flying high in the division, and Nicholas believes that they boast more quality, he is backing the Whites to come out on top at Elland Road.

“Leeds are starting to pick up under Garry Monk and they’ll be hoping to have a good crowd at Elland Road with the opportunity they’ve got, having struggled to do much in this competition for a good few years,” he told Sky Sports, as he explained why he is expecting Leeds to win 2-1, with Chris Wood bagging the first goal.

“Norwich have got more quality, there’s no doubt about that, and the likes of Robbie Brady and Steven Naismith should really be excelling at this level.

“I just feel like it’s starting to grow for Leeds and there’s something about Chris Wood and the way he troubles defences that makes me think they can keep the run going.”

While Norwich are doing very well in the league this term, it is perhaps fair to say that Leeds’ most recent form is slightly more encouraging.

Alex Neil’s men are without a win in their last two – having drawn against Fulham, despite being 2-0 up at one stage, and then lost at home against Preston – while United came out on top in their most recent fixture against Wolves this past weekend, and only a stoppage-time equaliser denied them a victory in the previous clash with Wigan.

But with Leeds boasting just two victories over teams currently in the top half of the second tier this term, there is no doubt that Garry Monk’s men will need to be somewhere near their best if they hope to make it into the quarter-finals.
