Goodison Park outfit Everton will lose to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the EFL Cup, predicts Charlie Nicholas.

Everton will take on Premier League rivals Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge in the fourth round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening.
The Toffees will head into the match on the back of a 5-2 defeat to Arsenal at Goodison Park in the Premier League.

That loss saw Ronald Koeman lose his managerial job at Everton, and the search is now on for a permanent replacement for the Dutchman.
Nicholas does not expect Everton’s week to get any better, as the former Scotland international believes that Chelsea will win against the Merseyside outfit in London in the fourth round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening.

The former Arsenal and Celtic forward wrote on Skysports.com: “Do Everton rest players or try to build something here? I think they are just going to Stamford Bridge looking to avoid embarrassment.
“Chelsea aren’t playing well at all, though. While Antonio Conte clearly doesn’t fancy Michy Batshuayi, he needs him right now and I think the Belgian striker will inflict yet another defeat on the Toffees.”
A footnote added: “Charlie predicts: 2-0 and Michy Batshuayi to score first.”
Playing at home will give Chelsea an advantage, and given their recent results and performances, manager Antonio Conte will be determined to steer his side to victory.
The Blues could play some of their fringe players against Everton on Wednesday evening, and that could help the Toffees.
Losing at Stamford Bridge would not be an embarrassment for the Toffees, if the scoreline is not massive and if their performance is encouraging.
