Sky Sports pundit pinning hopes on Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths to score for Scotland.

Leigh Griffith is seen during a training session ahead of the FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifier against Slovakia at Hampden Park on October 2, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Ahead of Scotland’s crucial World Cup Qualifier game against Slovakia, Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports that Leigh Griffiths holds the key.

Scotland find themselves fourth in Group F, behind Slovakia and Slovenia on 14 points. If England beat Slovenia, and Scotland get a positive result against Slovakia, they will be in a good position to qualify.

Gordon Strachan’s side are missing several key players for this game. Nicholas believes that a lot of faith will be placed on Griffiths to deliver.

He says that Griffiths may not be as explosive as England’s Harry Kane, but the Celtic star is Scotland’s main man.

Nicholas is pleased to see that Griffiths, who is a key player for Brendan Rodgers, and is in good form this season, is scoring important goals for his clubs and country, and predicts him to score the first goal of the match.

“Leigh Griffiths may be no Kane but he’s our main man again and he’s started to score some important goals, so a lot of faith will be placed in him,” said Nicholas to Sky Sports.
