David Moyes has shown great faith in Sunderland youngster Jordan Pickford so far.
Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports that Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League this season.
Nicholas was picking his Premier League team of the season, and decided to put Tottenham Hotspur stopper Hugo Lloris in goal.
However, Nicholas did find time to mention Pickford, who he feels has been in very good form for Sunderland.
He said: “It sounds crazy because of how Sunderland are doing but the young lad Jordan Pickford deserves a mention because he has been excellent.”
Pickford has had more to do than most other goalkeepers in the Premier League this season, as Sunderland’s defence has been so shaky.
The England youth international has let in 20 goals in the 10 league matches he has played in so far.
However, Pickford has still managed to catch the eye – as he has made a host of excellent saves during Sunderland’s matches.
The Black Cats have only picked up two points so far this term, but things could have been even worse without Pickford.
Pickford is now likely to continue in Sunderland’s net, even with Vito Mannone edging closer towards full fitness.
