Charlie Nicholas has told his Daily Express column that Rangers should be going after Sean Dyche, after the Ibrox club decided to sack Giovanni van Bronckhorst following a woeful start to the 2022-23 campaign under the Dutchman.
Van Bronckhorst was relieved of his duties after his Rangers side earned the tag as the worst-ever Champions League team in group-stage history. The club also sit nine points behind Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
So, who will replace him? The contenders include Michael Beale, Ralph Hasenhuttl, Peter Bosz and more. Another name is Dyche. The ex-Burnley gaffer has been linked in the past – The Times saying he could have replaced Steven Gerrard.
Celtic icon Nicholas gave his verdict. He believes Dyche should be the man to come in at Ibrox, claiming – like he did at Burnley – he would unite a disjointed Rangers dressing room. Nicholas says Dyche has the ability to “build something”.

“I reckon he would embed himself in the fabric of the club. Dyche certainly gets the dressing room behind him, as we saw when he was Burnley boss. He’d be harder on the players and that’s what these players require.
“Dyche doesn’t need flamboyant players to get the best out of them. He likes honest, hardworking guys. Dyche has the capacity to build something. While it might not be a style fans love, he’d give the team a strong identity.”
Nicholas: Rangers should be going after Dyche
Nicholas makes a good point. He might not implement the exact style Rangers fans would want, but he would certainly instill a belief. Standards would rise back up. An expectation of quality, an expectation of requirements that are lacking.
He would get this squad of players, which boasts plenty of talent, back up to speed. Anyone that disagrees with his way of thinking is out the door. His working relationship with Ross Wilson will also help, ahead of the January window.
