Former Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas said on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News last Saturday afternoon (12:25pm, November 4, 2017) that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks is not the real deal yet.

Winks has been making the headlines in recent weeks with his performances in the Premier League and in the Champions League. The 21-year-old midfielder has also played for the England national football team.

The future looks bright for Winks, who appears to be a very good midfielder with a good passing range.

Former Arsenal forward Nicholas, though, is not getting carried away with the youngster, comparing his emergence with that of 25-year-old Swansea midfielder Tom Carroll.

Carroll also started his professional club football career at Tottenham and played some good games, before joining Swansea on a permanent contract in January 2017.

“For me, he is not the real deal yet,” said Nicholas about Winks on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News last Saturday afternoon (12:25pm, November 4, 2017). “I think he has fitted into the system really nice.”

Nicholas added: “He reminds me of the lad Carroll who came in at Spurs for a spell. He did well, he impressed and then he moved on. That’s what I see so far. It can get better.”
