Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino helped Jurgen Klopp’s side pick up three points at the weekend.

Charlie Nicholas has said to Sky Sports that it is ‘unbelievable’ what happens to Liverpool when Roberto Firmino is picked.

Firmino came off the bench for Liverpool against Newcastle United at the weekend, and completely changed the direction of the match.

Liverpool were drawing 1-1 with Newcastle United when Firmino came on for the injured Divock Origi just after the half hour mark.

The Reds had struggled to break down a resilient Newcastle backline over the opening period of the match.

However, as soon as the £29 million signing (BBC Sport) was included in Liverpool’s team, Jurgen Klopp’s side were so much more threatening.

And Nicholas claims that he absolutely loves watching Firmino play.

“The difference Roberto Firmino makes is unbelievable,” he said.

“He doesn’t get the goals that Mohamed Salah gets or has the pace that Sadio Mane does but he has skill and cunning.

“He is a real team player and is my favourite out of the three, my favourite to watch, although he may be easier to mark than the other two.”

Firmino’s tireless work rate and skill really has allowed Mo Salah and Sadio Mane to thrive at Liverpool in recent seasons.

He is arguably the least heralded but most important member of Liverpool’s front line, with his quality highlighted at the weekend.

Liverpool’s win over Newcastle means that they have now extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points, after just five games have taken place this season.
