The former forward says Everton have only themselves to blame for their 2-1 loss.
Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports that Everton have nobody but themselves to blame for losing to Burnley.
The Blues traveled to Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon looking to secure their first win in three league games.
They failed to do that, though, as a late strike from Scott Arfield secured all three points for Sean Dyche’s team.
It was a highly frustrating afternoon for the Toffees, who enjoyed 66% of the possession and registered 20 shots on target.
Those numbers suggest that they should have walked away as comfortable winners and Nicholas says they have nobody but themselves to blame for that not being the case.
“Everton have only really got themselves to blame,” he told Sky Sports.
“They started well enough but the quality of the final ball is probably the key to where Koeman gets frustrated with Barkley and Bolasie.
“In the last 20 minutes I thought if anyone was going to win it, it would be Everton.”
The result was certainly a frustrating one for Everton and a look at the table is only likely to increase that annoyance.
A win over the Clarets could have seen them move into fifth place and just a point behind Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in fourth and third.
Instead, the defeat leaves them sixth and four points outside of those Champions League places with 15 points from their first nine games.
They will be keen to bounce back next time around when they take on West Ham United at Goodison Park next time around.
