The Toffees are in dire straits at the minute and Everton boss Marco Silva is on thin ice regarding the Goodison Park job.
Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has issued a brutal verdict regarding the current state of affairs at Everton under Marco Silva and believes the Portuguese “could be very fortunate” to still be in charge at Goodison Park come the international break (Sky Sports News).
Silva has endured a tough start to the new Premier League season, coming under intense pressure after just seven matches due to a number of lacklustre performances which has left them in the bottom half of the table ahead of their weekend trip to Burnley.
Everton currently sit 15th in the standings with just seven points, having fallen to four defeats, against Bournemouth, Manchester City and two newly-promoted teams in Aston Villa and Sheffield United, culminating in a lot of discontent amongst sections of the Toffees fanbase.
While the Toffees were never expected to get anything from the Man City game and put in a more solid performance against the Premier League champions, Nicholas is nonetheless perplexed as to what their manager “wants to achieve” and has slated the team’s lack of rhythm and understanding between the players.
“I never know what Marco Silva wants to achieve,” Nicholas wrote on Sky Sports News. “When you have as many attacking options as he does, and it isn’t working, you have to try something different.
“There is no rhythm to Everton, no understanding and if things pan out how I see them at Burnley, Silva could be very fortunate to still be in his seat by the international break, with Everton potentially in the bottom three.”
