West Bromwich Albion striker Charlie Austin has stated on Twitter that he rates Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips highly.

Austin has said that in the Championship, the 24-year-old is the young player he rates the highest.

Stats

Phillips has been at Leeds his entire professional club football career so far and has developed massively over the past two or so seasons under head coach Marcelo Bielsa.

According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old scored one goal and provided three assists in 44 Championship matches for the Whites last season.

So far this campaign, the midfielder has scored one goal and provided two assists in 31 league games for the West Yorkshire outfit, according to WhoScored.

Leeds United star

Phillips is a key figure at Leeds, who do not have an exact like-for-like replacement for him in the squad.

The Englishman has been key to the Whites’ rise to automatic promotion contenders over the past two years.

However, given that Phillips is now 24 years of age, many will say that he is not ‘young’ anymore.
