Charlie Austin said on talkSPORT (8:39am, January 25, 2021) that Southampton striker Danny Ings would be a good signing for Tottenham Hotspur.
Austin, now on loan at Queens Park Rangers from West Bromwich Albion, played with fellow striker Ings at Southampton.
The 31-year-old striker has praised the 28-year-old former Liverpool man and has hailed his all-round game.
According to Eurosport, Tottenham are interested in signing Ings from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer of 2021.
The striker has not signed a new deal with the Saints, and Spurs are monitoring the situation of the 28-year-old, according to the report.
Austin said about Ings and Tottenham on talkSPORT (8:39am, January 25, 2021): “I think it would be a good fit. I think for Danny it was all about going to Southampton and playing games and forgetting about the injury record that he had.”
The Englishman added: “He just brings much more to the team as well. His all-round game is second to none, and the goals just put him in the right direction.
“Last year he scored 20+ goals and this year he is on the way to get the same amount. It’s no surprise that he is linked with a club like Tottenham.”

Good signing for Tottenham Hotspur?
Tottenham signed Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica in the summer of 2020 as a back-up to Harry Kane.
If Vinicius is not at Spurs next season, then there will a place in the North London club’s squad for Ings.
However, it remains to be seen if the England international striker himself would be open to a move to Spurs, as he would have to play second fiddle to Kane.
Ings – who has scored seven goals and provided three assists in the Premier League so far this season and scored 22 goals and gave two assists in the league in 2019-20, according to WhoScored – is a regular in the Southampton team.

Praise for Tottenham Hotspur duo
Meanwhile, Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho has praised Tanguy Ndombele for his performance and goals against Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup on Monday evening, and ex-Crystal Palace forward Clinton Morrison was impressed by the performance of winger Gareth Bale, who also scored in the win.
Mourinho told BBC Sport about Ndombele: “[Tanguy Ndombele] is very creative. He is one of those players that can break the balance. They tried to get him man against man but he can break that – plus on top of that he can score a goal for us.”
Morrison told BBC Sport about Bale: “Gareth Bale has looked sharp tonight. I know he missed a few chances in the first half but he does look sharp. It’s like he has a point to prove but he needs minutes on the pitch. If you give him minutes, then he will deliver.”
