Stoke City ace Adam has faced the Whites twice this season in the Championship.
Leeds United have had a difficult 2019 so far, their dominance in the first half of the Championship season having given way to inconsistency and a number of negative results including the start-of-year loss to Nottingham Forest, the defeat to Norwich City and the last-ditch draw against Middlesbrough.
Although the Whites followed up the morale-boosting win over Swansea City with victory over Bolton Wanderers last weekend, their rescheduled game against Queens Park Rangers in midweek saw them fall to a 1-0 defeat which keeps them outside the top two.
Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has spoken about Marcelo Bielsa’s side, drawing on his own experiences having played against them twice this season – Leeds beat the Potters 3-1 on the opening day of the Championship season but lost the reverse fixture 2-1 on January 19.
In conversation with talkSPORT, the 33-year-old said he wanted to see them promoted to the Premier League, adding that they’ve been having two issues – a lack of creativity and the Spygate fallout – which could have disrupted their campaign, but offset the cons with one positive point.
Talking on the Alan Brazil Breakfast Show on talkSPORT (27/2, 7am), Adam said: “Earlier in the season they gave us a bit of a doing, but in the last match we played them they never really created much. They must be a good team to be up there all season, but I don’t think Spygate helped them as a club.
“It’d be great to see them back in the Premier League but they need to steady the ship now and get over the line. Doesn’t matter how they do it, they just need to get the points they need somehow. It’s a tough league but they’ve got the balls to go score late goals so they’ve always got that going for them.”
