Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has responded when asked if he would be interested in a return to Glasgow Rangers this summer.

The former Scotland international was asked by the Scottish Herald if he would be up for joining Pedro Caixinha’s revolution, having seen pal Steven Naismith linked.

Adam said he is keen to stay at Stoke City for as long as possible but would not rule out a return if he was told by the Premier League side he was no longer wanted.

He said: “Listen, Rangers is a wonderful club and I had a great time there. I left because I felt it was right for my career and it has been.

“I have a year left but I’m looking to extend it if I can. Stoke is a great club with great people and I’m comfortable there.

“I am happy at Stoke but you never know what can happen in football. Scotland is always an option but I am happy where I am.”

Adam is 31 and has made 17 Premier League starts this season for Stoke City, his highest number in three seasons.

The central midfielder signed with Rangers from Dundee when he was just 17 and went on to eventually establish himself in the first team.

He left for Blackpool in 2009 where he helped them win promotion to the Premier League before his top flight performances earned him a switch to Liverpool.

From his comments a Rangers return sounds possible one day for Adam, but don’t expect it to happen this summer.
