The in-form Celtic man is expected to face England this week.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Charlie Adam has questioned Gordon Strachan’s decision to recall Celtic ace Scott Brown for the upcoming World Cup qualifier with England.
Scotland head down South this week for a big Group F clash in Wembley.
The Celtic midfielder announced his retirement from the international fold in August, but made a surprising u-turn by making himself available for this round of qualifiers.
It remains to be seen if the 31-year-old is back for the long-term or whether this is a short-term venture by Brown, who has been in excellent form for the Hoops this season.
If he is only back for the England clash, Adam, whose last competitive cap for Scotland came in March, 2014, has suggested that other midfielders in Strachan’s squad should be irked by Brown’s return.
“He’s just come straight back in to play against England. If I’m another player I’m going to be thinking: ‘what’s going on, why am I not getting an opportunity?’,” Adam told TalkSport on Tuesday.
“I understand he’s got 50 caps and he’s done well for his country, but once you retire let somebody else have an opportunity. They’ve been waiting for an opportunity for a long time.
“If he’s only going to come back for one game I don’t feel it’s right for the other players who are sat on the bench.”
Strachan, to be fair, is in no position to snub Brown if the player has made himself available. Scotland sit fourth in Group F and defeat by England would make their bid to qualify for the World Cup in Russia all the tougher.
