Rangers have today confirmed on their official website that they have sacked manager Pedro Caixinha – and former Gers midfielder Charlie Adam wants to see Alex McLeish, Alex Rae and Kevin Thomson return to Ibrox.
The Gers only appointed Caixinha as Mark Warburton’s replacement back in March, taking a major gamble on the Portuguese boss, who had previously managed Nacional, Santos Laguna and Al-Gharafa.
Caixinha was given major funds to overhaul his squad over the summer, but he departs with a win rate of 52%, with his failure to win the big games ultimately costing him.

Caixinha never really came close to beating Celtic, lost in the Europa League to Progres Niederkorn, and then lost 2-0 to Motherwell in Sunday’s Scottish League Cup sem-final, when he was expected to make it through to the final.
It was Wednesday’s 1-1 home draw with Kilmarnock which ultimately ended Caixinha’s stay with Rangers though, as the Gers confirmed this afternoon that the club have parted ways with their manager.
Graeme Murty will take caretaker charge whilst Rangers search for a new boss, but one former Gers ace has already had his say on who should be appointed into the Ibrox hot seat.

Stoke City ace Charlie Adam, who played 88 times for Rangers, has taken to Twitter to state that he thinks Alex McLeish should be re-appointed as Gers manager, with former Rangers midfielders Alex Rae and Kevin Thomson working alongside him.
McLeish, 58, managed Rangers for four-and-a-half years between 2001 and 2006, winning 66% of his games whilst also clinching two league titles, two Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups.
Now out of work, McLeish may be open to a return, whilst Rae and Thomson – who both interviewed to join Caixinha’s coaching staff last season – would also strengthen the Rangers identity given their playing careers at Ibrox.
