Charlie Adam lauds Mauricio Pochettino’s calm character at Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur will be preparing for their Champions League tie against Ajax on Tuesday night.

Charlie Adam has claimed that he has never seen Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino ‘panic’, ‘worried’ or seem as though he is ‘under pressure’ during his time at the club.

The Argentine will be preparing for Spurs’ Champions League semi-final showdown against Ajax on Tuesday night, with the first leg taking place in North London.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (29/04/2019 at 7:10 pm), former Premier League midfielder Adam was in awe of Pochettino’s character and the manner in which he presents himself.

“In the five years he has been there, his calmness in the whole situation,” Adam told BBC Radio 5 Live. “He has never ever panicked. You have never seen him worried or for me, he’s never looked under pressure.

“Everyone has put the pressure on him, obviously, maybe being linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid. But he’s just calm and collected. And it shows in the way his team play.”

Pochettino will be hoping is calming influence can help his team progress to the final of the Champions League, but they will also need to show nerve and character in order to do that.

Thankfully, for the Spurs supporters, they have already seen these signs from their players because they showcased it when they knocked Manchester City out of Europe earlier on in the month.

Nonetheless, over the weekend, the North London outfit suffered a damaging home defeat to near-neighbours West Ham United, but that result didn’t trouble them too much because the other teams around them also dropped points.

If Tottenham can somehow win the Champions League at the end of the season, it would be a remarkable story for a team that has not signed any players during the previous two transfer windows.
