Gerrard said his Rangers side are a class above Aberdeen following Sunday’s 1-1 draw.

Former Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam has defended Steven Gerrard’s comments about his side being a class above Aberdeen, by telling BBC Sportsound that Rangers are indeed “streets ahead” of the Dons.
Rangers have finished third behind Aberdeen for the last two seasons, with Derek McInnes’ side finishing second for the past four seasons. Celtic remain the Scottish Premiership’s champions.
The two sides met on Sunday at Pittodrie, which saw Rangers go down to 10 men inside 12 minutes after Alfredo Morelos was sent off for kicking out at Dons defender Scott McKenna. Despite this, Rangers led until the 93rd minute.
James Tavernier’s goal was finally cancelled out by Bruce Anderson, and Gerrard said in his post-match comments that his Rangers side were a class above Aberdeen – something which ex-Gers star Adam agrees with.
“If you look on paper, Rangers are streets ahead of Aberdeen,” Adam said. “They dominated Aberdeen even with 10 men. On the outside it was a very poor performance from Aberdeen.
“This is the best Rangers team in four years. The quality’s so much better, the intensity is better.”

Gerrard has brought 10 new players to Rangers this summer, including high-profile stars such as Allan McGregor, Jon Flanagan, Scott Arfield and Jamie Murphy. The ex-Liverpool captain has also landed Ovie Ejaria and Ryan Kent from his old side.
Nikola Katic, Connor Goldson, Umar Sadiq and Lassana Coulibaly will also be looking to start on Thursday in Rangers’ third-round Europa League qualifying clash against Slovenian giants Maribor.
