Celtic are yet to announce who their permanent manager will be for the 2019/2020 Scottish Premiership campaign.

Neil Lennon, Interim manager of Celtic looks on after the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Hearts at Celtic Park on May 19, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Charlie Adam has defended Neil Lennon for the job he has done at Celtic and stated that he has done enough to justify him been given the job on a permanent basis.

The former Premier League midfielder also had a pop at some of the Bhoys supporters and called them ‘narrow-minded’ for the manner in which they reacted to Brendan Rodgers leaving in February.

Lennon was the man picked to replace the now Leicester City manager and since his arrival, he has secured the Premiership title and he will be hoping to lift the Scottish Cup by the end of this week.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (19/05/2019 at 2:40 pm), Adam shared his thoughts on Celtic’s managerial search as he believes only one man should be given the job.

“There are a lot of good managers out there,” Adam told 5 Live Sport. “But do they understand Celtic football club? Do they have the experience of managing a big club like Celtic? It’s very difficult.

“I back Neil Lennon on this because he’s been told to do a job. Brendan left in circumstances that he wanted to go to Leicester which was very hurtful to a lot of supporters, but they were narrow-minded supporters. You have got to look at the bigger picture, Leicester is a wonderful football club. It’s going in the right direction, spending a lot of money and good training facilities.

“For Lennon, he is the obvious candidate. He’s been told to take over the reins. He’s done that. Okay, he’s been beaten by Rangers, but that would be one of the issues with the younger supporters. I don’t think any fan would complain about Lennon walking into the job in the summer. The job Lennon has done justified him getting the job.”
