The Arsenal star was linked with a move to Everton this summer but it never materialised.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Charlie Adam has claimed that Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud snubbed a move to Everton because his wife didn’t want it to happen.

The France international was linked with a £30 million move to Everton this past summer but the 30-year-old wound up staying with the Gunners.

It seemed odd that Giroud preferred to remain in North London, given that Arsenal had just spent £52 million on Alexandre Lacazette, who pushes him down the pecking order.

And speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, the Stoke City man has suggested that a switch to Goodison Park was “nearly done” but Giroud’s wife seemingly wasn’t keen on the transfer.

He said: “I heard his partner refused the deal. The deal was nearly done, he wanted to come, but I heard it was his girlfriend or wife that turned it down.”

Everton did not end up signing a tried-and-tested number nine and Giroud would’ve been perfect.

Sure, he would’ve fetched a decent bit of money and has practically no re-sale value, but the big Frenchman would’ve been a major asset in helping the Toffees finish in the Champions League spots this season.
