Steven Gerrard’s Rangers finished as runners-up behind Scottish Premiership champions Celtic this season.

Charlie Adam has stated that Rangers will sign ‘three or four’ players in the summer as he expressed his worry that Celtic can pull the rabbit out of the hat in terms of managerial and player signings.
The up and coming summer transfer window will play a huge part in what happens next season because both clubs have a lot of business to sort out.
The Light Blues will be busy bulking up their squad for a title challenge next term, whilst their Old Firm rivals are still to name their new permanent manager.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (19/05/2019 at 2:45 pm), former Premier League midfielder Adam shared what could happen in Glasgow in these next few months and next season.
“I hope there’s a challenge,” Adam told BBC Radio 5 Live. “The challenge was up to a point at Christmas where they were level on points and it was going in the right direction. Inconsistencies since then. It cost Rangers getting closer to Celtic.
“Rangers have been on a great run recently and I think if you look at Steven [Gerrard] and how he has done this season, he’s done a good job and he’s got a good squad, but he’ll be looking for better quality next season. I don’t see Rangers bringing seven or eight players in. I can see them bringing in three or four maximum of better quality players that can take Rangers to the next level again and give Celtic a proper challenge.
“Going next season, it’ll be a totally different game from Rangers. They’ll understand how they can play. But with Celtic anything can happen with Dermot Desmond’s money. He could bring a rabbit out of the hat. They can bring one of the big ones in – whether it’d be a player or manager. I think Celtic have a bigger re-building job this summer than Rangers do.”

Whether Celtic win nine-in-a-row or Steven Gerrard ends their dominance next season, a lot of it will fall on the decisions that are made in the summer.
The Gers finished nine points behind their neighbours and they will be backing themselves to go one better and lift the trophy next term.
They will point towards their style of play, their early season form and their wins at home against Celtic as the reasons behind why Gerrard can bring home a trophy in his second season.
