Charlie Adam has told PLZ Soccer that Celtic will ‘definitely be looking at Steve Clarke to fill their vacant managerial role.

The former Rangers player added that it will be ‘very difficult’ for the current Scotland manager to turn down the chance to manage Celtic.

Following Neil Lennon’s departure, those at Parkhead are now on the hunt for a new face to fill the pressure cooker of a job at Celtic.

The links with Clarke are understandable and ex-Scotland midfielder Adam shared that the 57-year-old has the qualities and experience to get that Celtic gig.

“He’s done the first part of the job and that’s getting the lads to Europe,” said Adam.

“I think he will be in consideration for the Celtic job because of what he’s done as a manager in England but also up at Kilmarnock. He has the experience of being at big clubs.

“They will definitely be looking at him. The position of Dermot (Desmond) is that he will be getting it right and he will wait until this is over with and they will make their decision.

“But it will be very difficult to see Steve turn down the Celtic job if it did come around. ”

Of course, Clarke’s only focus will be the upcoming Euros and trying to guide Scotland as far as possible.

It’s an achievement in itself that Clarke managed to guide his home country to the Euros given the situation they were in when he first turned up.

But if Celtic do have Clarke on their list, and opt to push for his signature, then they will have to wait until further in the summer for him to arrive, which may just disrupt their plans for the next campaign.
