Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur will battle it out in Madrid for the European Cup next month.

Charlie Adam has backed Liverpool to win the Champions League but warned that Tottenham Hotspur are a good side and there’s ‘no getting away from that’.

The Premier League duo will lock horns in Madrid on June 1, with the Reds hoping to win their sixth European crown and Spurs aiming to win their first CL title.

Either way, whichever team is lifting the trophy at the end of the night, it will be seen as a huge success, especially for Spurs because they have hardly invested in their squad in recent years.

Nonetheless, speaking to The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show on TalkSport (21/05/2019 at 9:15 am), Adam backed his former club to do the business in Madrid.

On Champions League final: “I would fancy Liverpool,” Adam told TalkSport. “They just fell short in the Premier League and it’s shame that it was 97 points and they lose the league.

“I would fancy Liverpool to win it and what a great achievement for that squad and Jurgen Klopp if he can do it. But Tottenham are a good side, there’s no getting away from that. It’s good to see the English teams in the final.”

Liverpool will want to erase the nightmares of last season when they were beaten in the Champions League final by Real Madrid.

There is no doubt that the Merseyside club have more experience in this competition and their players may well be more prepared from a mental standpoint than the North London club.

Either way, the game in Madrid will be a mouthwatering affair, especially considering how they both reached the final by producing stunning comebacks against Barcelona and Ajax, respectively.
