Charley Hull heads to Singapore this week looking to build on her recent win in Riyadh, hoping to carry that momentum into the HSBC Women’s World Championship.

The event is another chance for Hull to find her rhythm ahead of a busy stretch in the schedule. The 2024 Chevron Championship isn’t far off now and every round counts as she prepares for another major run.

Hull has long been a favourite among fans, thanks to her aggressive approach and relaxed attitude on course.

Pádraig Harrington recently highlighted Hull’s fearless style of play, saying it’s more common in the men’s game than the women’s. Her willingness to take risks, along with her strong ball-striking, sets her apart from many of her peers.

It was a good start for Hull in Singapore with an opening-round 68. She went three under par for the day, making five birdies against two bogeys.

Hull has finished second four times at major championships throughout her career to date.

She clearly has the game for it, but questions remain about whether she can put it all together when it matters most.

Speaking before the HSBC Women’s World Championship, Hull was asked if she genuinely believes she’ll win a major before her playing days are over.

“Yeah, I always really want to win a major,” she replied. “That’s my goal. Obviously had quite a lot of second-place finishes in majors. I’ll get there. Just carry on enjoying and not put too much pressure on myself. It’s just a game at the end of the day.”

It feels like only a matter of time until Hull breaks through for her first major title. The talent is obvious, and she’s already come close several times.

The Englishwoman has earned every bit of her success so far, and once that first big win comes, more could easily follow.

Charley Hull’s major championship record

She’s had more than her share of bad breaks in big moments. A little bit of luck wouldn’t go amiss, either, as she’s often found herself on the wrong end of fortune when in contention.

With a bit more luck on her side, things could turn around for her.

Hull has been on the verge several times, having finished second at majors four different times.

Maybe 2026 will be the year Charley Hull finally gets over the line and wins that elusive major championship.

The talent is undeniable – now it’s just about delivering when it matters most.
