Not only do Arsenal have a senior squad on the edge of glory, but their academy is also gunning for success.

On Tuesday night, Arsenal’s Under-18s beat Manchester City’s Under-18s to reach the FA Youth Cup final.

The Gunners took the lead at the Emirates Stadium after just six minutes thanks to a superb Michal Rosiak free-kick.

However, the visitors equalised in the second half, through a close-range Justin Oboavwoduo finish.

Arsenal and City went to extra time and, with penalties looming, Myles Lewis-Skelly got the winner for the Gunners.

He darted into the box, timing his run superbly, and nodded home from Bradley Ibrahim’s inviting delivery.

Arsenal will now take on either West Ham or Southampton in the final, which takes place at the Emirates Stadium.

As per the official Gunners website, a date and kick-off time will be announced in due course.

‘So much excitement about him at Arsenal’

Lewis-Skelly continues to go from strength to strength in the Arsenal academy.

Despite being just 16, the midfielder is already playing at Under-21 level.

Last year, Jeorge Bird wrote on his website that Lewis-Skelly is ‘undoubtedly one of the most talented youngsters at the club and has much potential’.

The Arsenal youth team expert added: ‘Lewis-Skelly frequently draws fouls from opposition players and relishes pushing forward to support the attack.

‘He has excellent technical ability and is now looking to develop defensively.’

Now, Charles Watts of Goal.com has echoed those sentiments while speaking on his YouTube channel.

“I thought Lewis-Skelly who scored the winner was just brilliant,” Watts said on Wednesday.

“You know when you see a player and you think, ‘yeah, you’re just a little bit different’.

“That’s the kind of impression you get when you sit there and watch Lewis-Skelly.

“His close control, his ability to get himself out of tight situations, the way he runs with the ball.

“Just his presence on the pitch, he’s got something special.

“You can see why there’s so much excitement about him at Arsenal.

“If anyone at Arsenal was going to get the winner last night, and deserved to get the headlines, it was probably him, as he was very good.”
