According to Goal’s Arsenal correspondent Charles Watts, David Luiz is fighting to play one last time for Arsenal.

Luiz picked up a hamstring injury against Newcastle United earlier this month, seemingly ending his season.

The Daily Mail then claimed that Luiz was hopeful of playing again this term, which has yet to happen.

Arsenal have just two games left; away to Crystal Palace on Wednesday and at home to Brighton on the final day.

Luiz could push to play in one of those games, and is allegedly working hard to do so because he wants to play for the Gunners one last time according to Watts.

“I am told that David Luiz is still determined to try and play again before the end of the season,” said Watts. “He’s got this hamstring injury, obviously we know he’s going to leave Arsenal at the end of the season now. He’s still working hard despite all of that, to try and at least get one last appearance in.”

“ I think it’s probably looking unlikely that David Luiz will be involved on Wednesday night; if he is going to play any sort of part again at Arsenal, it would be in Sunday’s game against Brighton, but he is working hard in the gym to try and get some game time before his contract expires at the end of the season,” he added.

The Brazilian is out of contract this summer, and BBC Sport report that a decision has already been made for him to leave this summer.

A meeting was held on Friday to make that call, with Luiz set to become a free agent when the season comes to an end.

The 34-year-old won’t want his last Arsenal memory to be a hamstring injury, so he now has just a matter of days to get himself ready for a send-off.
