Charles Leclerc was left frustrated after finishing in sixth at the Las Vegas Grand Prix with Ferrari.

The Maranello outfit have struggled with performance throughout 2025, and it was no exception at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The unpredictable conditions did not suit the SF-25 all weekend.

Leclerc could only manage ninth in qualifying, while teammate Lewis Hamilton qualified last. It marks the first time a Ferrari driver started from last on the grid since 2009 with Giancarlo Fisichella.

In the race, Leclerc fought up to P6, while Hamilton managed to salvage a point in P10, but they were promoted to fourth and eighth after McLaren were disqualified for excessive plank wear. However, it was another disappointing weekend for Ferrari, with the former lamenting the track conditions.

Charles Leclerc says his ‘priority’ is to improve wet races at Ferrari after disappointing Las Vegas Grand Prix

Speaking on F1 TV’s post-race show after the race, Leclerc explained that improving performance in wet races is his ‘priority’ from now on. He has been left angry with how many points Ferrari have dropped when the rain hits.

“Disappointed. I mean, P6 is not what I wanted, especially after Thursday, that was very positive. The Friday, very difficult in the rain and then the Saturday, very positive in terms of pace, but just starting too far away,” he said.

“So, we’ve got to really work on our wet pace because it’s been too many times the case of us being on the back foot and we are paying the price at the end of a year.

“When you look at all the qualifying, the wet qualifying, the wet races, we are just leaving too many points on the table.

“So this is for sure a priority that I’ll set myself from now on. It was already one, but probably now it’s even higher up because we’re struggling too much.”

Ferrari drift further away from P2 in the constructors’ championship

Ferrari’s lack of grip in the wet conditions was ultimately their undoing in Las Vegas. While McLaren’s double DSQ helped them score extra points, their championship rivals made better gains.

Max Verstappen won his sixth race of 2025 for Red Bull, while Mercedes grabbed a double podium in Las Vegas. George Russell was elevated to P2, while Kimi Antonelli finished P3 after starting in 17th.

Ferrari are now 53 points behind Mercedes in the constructors’ championship, with Red Bull 13 points ahead in third. With just two races remaining, finishing second in the standings looks almost impossible.

It is not the season that Ferrari were expecting, especially after adding Hamilton to their ranks. They will now be looking ahead to 2026 to try and find success.
