Charles Barkley did not hold back when reacting to Deandre Ayton’s self-styled nickname.

The Los Angeles Lakers center recently made headlines for comments about his role, but Barkley quickly shifted the focus to Ayton’s production.

The NBA analyst delivered a blunt assessment that immediately went viral. He made his stance crystal clear.

Charles Barkley mocks Deandre Ayton’s Dominayton nickname

In a clip shared by TheHoopCentral, Charles Barkley said: “This man out here talking about insulting Clint Capela. Then he gives himself a nickname like Dominayton. Dominayton, my a__.”

Barkley’s reaction came after Ayton referenced comparisons to Clint Capela and leaned into the “Dominayton” moniker.

The Hall of Famer clearly believes that label requires a higher level of impact. The criticism landed because it was tied to performance rather than personality.

Deandre Ayton struggles despite Lakers’ win over Warriors

The timing of Barkley’s remarks coincided with an underwhelming outing from Ayton in the Lakers’ 129-121 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

Ayton finished with just 4 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 2-of-5 from the field and 0-of-2 from the free-throw line. While the Lakers secured the win, his offensive imprint was limited.

For a player embracing a dominance-themed nickname, expectations naturally rise. Barkley’s critique suggests that production must consistently match the branding.

Until then, “Dominayton” may continue to draw more jokes than applause.
