Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Callum Wilson has been chatting about Michail Antonio’s recent form ahead of the Hammers’ game against Lyon.

The Jamaica international has had a torrid time in front of goal as of late. He’s scored just one goal in 2022, and that was on New Years’ Day.

Antonio can’t buy a goal at the minute, and Wilson says that the striker needs to try something different on their podcast.

What’s been said?

Wilson spoke about Antonio and his misfortune.

“Maybe you need to change your preparation, something you could change before the game. I’ve been rooting for you, but I just can’t see it happening. If I was allowed to bet on football, I’d bet on you not scoring! Try something different, you’re playing against a European team,” Wilson told Antonio.

Find his confidence

Antonio certainly needs to change something, and perhaps the most important thing is for him to rediscover his confidence.

Antonio is a player who is at his best when he’s playing with a smile on his face, and as of late, it seems as though the pressure of a top-four race has gotten to him a little bit.

He needs to go back to playing his way and take some of the weight off of his shoulders.

Of course, that’s easier said than done, but Antonio needs to find a way to get back into the zone and back amongst the goals if the Hammers are going to progress in the Europa League.
