Leeds United and Newcastle United have representatives in the top four, as do Bristol City and Norwich City.

The results from HITC Sport’s poll looking at the Championship’s best young players of 2016 are in. But was your club’s hottest prospect included amongst the top four?

4. Jacob Murphy

Despite boasting barely any Championship experience before this season, Jacob Murphy has been one of the stars of the campaign for Norwich City. The winger has scored six times and contributed four assists for the Canaries in 21 games to establish himself as one of the few bright points from a mixed start to the campaign for Alex Neil’s men.

3. Tammy Abraham

The 19-year-old striker has been excellent during his loan spell with Bristol City, scoring 12 times in just 23 games since joining from Chelsea. Though his form has dipped slightly in recent weeks, he has arguably done enough to put himself on the radar of those Premier League clubs looking for a goalscorer.

2. Charlie Taylor

The Leeds left-back was fantastic during the 2015/16 season and established himself as a player surely destined to play in the top flight at some stage. His form was less impressive during the early stages of this season, but he has looked much better over the last couple of months, so promotion in 2017 is surely a must for Leeds if they are to stand any chance of keeping him.

1. Isaac Hayden

The 21-year-old was part of the Hull City that secured promotion to the Premier League in 2016 before joining Newcastle United on a permanent basis after failing to make the grade at Arsenal. Newcastle’s form during the rest of the year suggested that the midfielder could well be on course to secure back-to-back promotions when the curtain comes down on the current campaign.

And it could mean that the Gunners may come to quickly regret letting their prospect move to St James’s Park on a permanent deal.
