Ben Wells has left West Ham to join QPR on a short-term deal.
Championship club Queens Park Rangers have confirmed the capture of West Ham United youngster Ben Wells on their official website, with the defender signing a 12-month deal with the R’s.
Wells’ future at West Ham was in doubt and instead of signing a new contract with Manuel Pellegrini’s side, he has opted to chance his arm across London with Steve McClaren’s second-tier outfit.
The centre-back had enjoyed a brief trial at QPR earlier in the season, featuring for Under-23 manager Paul Hall’s side on one occasion at Loftus Road. Now, he is expected to become a regular member of QPR’s second string.

Wells is highly thought of and it will be a disappointment to Hammers fans to see him go, after he captained the Under-18 side and clocked up 18 appearances in the Under-18 Premier League last season.
Indeed, his form has been that impressive that he made the breakthrough into the reserve side, turning out three times for the Hammers in Premier League 2.
Now, he will be looking to impress enough during his one-year contract at QPR to break into the first team under McClaren. His versatility may be key, as he can also play in holding midfield – much like Declan Rice.
