Rangers could still do with another striker at Ibrox despite the signing of Jason Cummings.

Sky Sports have claimed on their transfer centre (Friday, 11:11) that a whole host of Championship clubs are interested in Bradford City striker Charlie Wyke, but Rangers should look to tempt the striker into moving north of the border.

The 25-year-old has fired himself to joint fifth in the League One goalscoring rankings with 11 strikes and 12 in all competitions in just 24 league and cup outings for Bradford.

But it is not just his goals that has seen Wyke attract the attention of a handful of Championship sides. The powerful forward, who is known for his aerial prowess, has also laid on seven assists this season.

Rangers have already completed five new signings this month, including a permanent deal for Declan John as well as loan deals for Russell Martin, Sean Goss, Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings.

But the striker debate still remains on the terraces at Ibrox despite the signing of Cummings. Does Graeme Murty still need another striker, with Eduardo Herrera struggling to make an impact and Kenny Miller sidelined?

Herrera has scored just two goals since his expensive move to Scotland from Mexico, while Miller is expected to remain on the sidelines for a chunk of the second half of the season as he continues to overcome a ruptured hamstring.

Wyke, rated at around £1million by Bradford, could be the perfect answer to Herrera’s poor form as he continues to show in England’s third tier that he would be more than adept at Scottish Premiership level.

The striker’s hold-up play would be perfect with Murphy, Josh Windass, Daniel Candeias, Niko Kranjcar and others all in behind. With 18 months remaining on his current contract, Rangers should consider an offer.
