HITC Sport understands a number of clubs are pursuing highly-rated Southampton youngster Sam Gallagher.

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Southampton striker Sam Gallagher could be set for loan move away from St Mary’s, with a host of clubs chasing his signature.

Gallagher is highly-regarded at Southampton after breaking into the first-team in the 2013/14 season under Mauricio Pochettino, making 20 appearances and scoring two goals.

The former Plymouth youngster failed to make a first-team appearance under Ronald Koeman last season, though, with his campaign blighted by injury.

However, Gallagher did help Southampton win the Under-21 Premier League Cup last season by scoring a stunning winning goal in the final against Blackburn Rovers.

A number of clubs tried to sign Gallagher on loan last season and his suitors are queuing up to land him this summer if Southampton allow the England Under-19 international to leave.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield Town are all long-term admirers of Gallagher, while the likes of Cardiff City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers are all keeping tabs on the powerful forward’s situation and are weighing up moves for him during the current window.
