Robert Lewandowski has confirmed what Leeds United fans have known for a couple of years: Mateusz Klich is fit.
The Leeds midfielder and Lewandowski impressed on Wednesday night as Poland thumped Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-0.
Klich, a £1.5 million signing by the Whites in 2017, set up the Bayern Munich hitman for his second of the night on 52 minutes.
The Elland Road club have had a total of 98 league games since Marcelo Bielsa arrived in West Yorkshire in the summer of 2018 – and the 30-year-old has started 97 of them.
He is famed for his running stats and ability to stave off the sort of knocks and niggles that result in missed game time.
Here’s what Lewandowski told TVP Sport: “Karol played a great match and Mateusz also shows that he is in shape. In addition, young wolves, it is such a breath of fresh air for the benefit of the representation.”
Yep, Klich is indeed Leeds’ very own Forrest Gump as far as being able to run for long periods of time goes.
That makes him virtually the perfect Bielsa player by virtue of the physical demands that the Argentine imposes on his troops.
Leeds, who drew 1-1 with Manchester City before the break, are back in action on Monday with a visit of Wolves.
